In a perplexing new trailer, Dies Irae: The Day Of Wrath leaves you with more questions than answers about the film’s plot and how it plans to subvert tropes of the horror genre. As the makers hinted at with its teaser, it appears to be a film set in two timelines, perhaps detailing events that took place within the same house. It appears that Pranav Mohanlal’s character arrives to stay at a house with a past of its own. We see glimpses of Pranav’s character trying to understand these phenomena and the connection he has with these unnerving events. Shots of the character playing the drums, hosting a party and taking a shower feature throughout the trailer. The trailer ends with a chilling shot of a corpse, suddenly opening its eyes.

Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, this is the filmmaker's third straight-ahead horror movie. Both his previous films, Boothakaalam and Bramayugam, were critical and commercial successes. The film’s title, Dies Irae, is Latin for 'The Day of Wrath'. It is scheduled for release on October 31, on Halloween.

This is Pranav’s first release after last year’s Varshangalkku Sesham. The film is produced by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S. Sashikanth through Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios. The music is composed by Christo Xavier and the film is being shot by Shehnad Jalal. Jothish Shankar is the art director, while editing is being handled by Shafique Mohammed Ali. With its stellar cast and crew, the film is poised to become one of the most anticipated horror thrillers of 2025.

In the film’s earlier teaser, we see the ghosts of the past pulling at the character played by Pranav Mohanlal, both figuratively and literally. We see two houses and a set of people but they appear to hail from the same family across decades. In one, we see elders talk about mysterious events in their life. The very next second, we see Pranav in what appears to be a contemporary home, trying to battle the same mysteries.
