'Dies Irae' Trailer: Pranav Mohanlal And The Horrors Of The Family Curse
Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, this is the filmmaker's third straight horror movie
In the creepy new trailer of Rahul Sadasivan’s Diés Iraé, we see the ghosts of the past pulling at the character played by Pranav Mohanlal both figuratively and literally. We see two houses and set of people but they appear to hail from the same family across decades. In one, we see elders as they talk about mysterious events in their life. The very next second, we see Pranav in what appears to a contemporary home, trying to battle the same mysterious issues. Are these people related to Pranav in some form or are they ghosts from his past, here to haunt his present?
Doors begin to slam on its own and we see a spirit pulling at Pranav’s collar. From peace, he descents into madness and paranoia and the trailer offers no explanation at all for all of these supernatural elements. The trailer also says it is based on a few real events, adding to the film’s intrigue. From the first look, it could even be an old family cruse that’s back to haunt Pranav, once he’s back at home.
This is director Rahul Sadasivan’s fourth film and third straight horror drama. Both his previous films Boothakaalam and Bramayugam were critical and commercial successes. The film’s title, Dies Irae, is Latin for The Day of Wrath. It is scheduled for release on October 31 for Halloween. It is Pranav’s first release after last year’s Varshangalkku Sesham. It is produced by Chakravarthy Ramachandra and S. Sashikanth through Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios. The film's music was composed by Christo Xavier and it’s being shot by Shehnad Jalal. Jothish Shankar is the art director, while editing is being handled by Shafique Mohammed Ali.
With its stellar cast and crew, the film is poised to become one of the most anticipated horror thrillers of 2025.
