The official trailer for the Alia-Bhatt backed Prime Video original film Don't Be Shy is out, introducing actors Aarushi Bajaj as Shy, Piyush Khati as Mayank, Bianca Arora as Tara, and Ansh Duggal as Dhruv as the lead cast headlining this coming-of-age story, young-adult romantic comedy.

Anchored in the messy complexities of first love, heartbreak, friendship and questionable decisions, the film is written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, produced by Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, under the banner of Eternal Sunshine Productions, and co-produced by Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani.

The trailer introduces Bajaj as Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, a carefree and highly independent girl who is convinced that she's the main character of her own life. From internships and scholarships to MBA and marriage, she has everything planned out in her head. But, her meticulously planned life takes a turn when her relationships with her friends and lovers leaves her in a tricky spot.

The trailer offers a comical glimpse into the chaos she finds herself in as she navigates between her romantic feelings for the rich and flamboyant Mayank (Khati), the man she has always envisioned marrying, and her childhood friend Dhruv (Ansh Duggal), who prefers his own company. The trailer also introduces Tara (Arora) as a free-spirited, outgoing presence that complicates Shy's life even further.

In a statement prior to the film's teaser launch, Bhatt had expressed her wish to back stories that "feel honest and voices that feel their own," adding that Don't Be Shy "immediately spoke to us because of its sincerity and coming-of-age lens and Sreeti’s passion and energy naturally fed into the spirit of the story."

Writer and director Mukerji also added to this sentiment, sharing that, “Don’t Be Shy came from a place of missing the movies I watched growing up—movies I still return to when I want to feel safe, comforted, and entertained. This is my tribute to that time in our lives, when we’re on the brink of adulthood but still young in so many ways."

Don’t Be Shy is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles, across India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide, on September 25, 2026.
