Mohanlal's upcoming film Drishyam 3 will be arriving to the theatres a little later than planned. The film, which was scheduled to be released on April 2, will now be released on May 21. The new date also marks the Malayalam superstar's birthday.

Mohanlal posted this update on X along with a new poster from the film. "The past never stays silent…it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21st 2026. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide Release," he wrote.

According to reports, the push is cited to be due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia. Starring Mohanlal as Georgekutty, Drishyam 3 wrapped filming a while ago. Speaking at an event in Kochi, Joseph revealed that the film is gearing up for a grand worldwide release. "Drishyam is a movie that has influenced lots of people. I still bear the impact of it," the filmmaker said.

According to industry buzz, Drishyam 3 has closed its pre-release distribution sales at a whopping cost of ₹350 crore, which is ₹50 crore more than the total collection of Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah Chapter One: Chandra, currently the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time.

The first instalment of Drishyam was released in 2013 and emerged as the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. It was then remade in several languages across the world, including a hit version in Chinese as well as Hindi, which starred Ajay Devgn and Tabu.

While the Malayalam version is locked for an April 2026 theatrical outing, the Hindi version will release in cinemas on October 2. The Hindi version also stars Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Kamlesh Sawant, and Rajat Kapoor. Initially, actor Akshaye Khanna was also on board the film, before he exited the project.

Among Mohanlal's next projects are Patriot with Mahesh Narayanan and Mammootty, and Priyadarshan's 100th film, which was recently announced.
