The 2025 Emmy Awards delivered a night of historic wins and surprising farewells. Adolescence emerged as the biggest winner of the night with six trophies, including best limited or anthology series. Stephen Graham took home lead actor in a limited or anthology series, while Erin Doherty and Owen Cooper won in supporting categories — with Cooper making history as the youngest-ever male Emmy winner. Philip Barantini won best directing for a limited series, and Graham added another Emmy for writing, shared with Jack Thorne.
Seth Rogen and The Studio also dominated, taking home four awards including best comedy series, lead actor in a comedy, and directing for a comedy series, while Rogen shared writing honours with Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez. Meanwhile, The Pitt won best drama series as well as best actor in a drama for Noah Wyle.
In a bittersweet moment, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert scored best talk series just two months after its cancellation. Other major wins included Tramell Tillman’s historic win as the first Black man to win supporting actor in a drama series for Severance and Jean Smart’s best actress in a comedy for Hacks, with castmate Hannah Einbinder also winning supporting actress in a comedy.
