One of Emraan Hashmi's fan-favourite films is back with a sequel. The actor is set to star in Awarapan 2, the makers announced on Monday with a special teaser announcement.

Often regarded as one of his finest performances, Awarapan (2007) featured Hashmi chronicling the redemption arc of a gangster. The film was directed by Mohit Suri and though it tanked at the box-office, went on to garner a massive fan following over the years thanks to its chartbuster music and dialogues.

Awarapan 2 will be directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui. Produced by Vishesh Bhatt, the makers called it an "intense action drama", which would pick up from where Shivam’s story left off.

Hashmi and Vishesh Films have previously collaborated on hits like Jannat (2008), Murder (2004) and Gangster (2006). Currently in pre-production, Awarapan 2 is gearing up to go on floors soon. Awarapan also starred Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana among others.

On the work front, Hashmi was last seen in the 2024 series Showtime and will now be seen in G2, the sequel to Goodachari (2018) headlined by Adivi Sesh.
