Over a decade after his last performance in India, global pop phenomenon Enrique Iglesias has returned to Mumbai and stirred up fresh rumours of a collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan. The Spanish singer, best known for chart-toppers like Hero, Bailando and Escape, is set to perform on October 29 and 30 at the MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex, following overwhelming ticket demand that led organisers to add a second night.

Speaking to India Today, Iglesias expressed affection for his Indian audience, calling them “some of the most loyal and passionate in the world.” “I’ve missed performing in India,” he said. “Since my first show back in 2004, the love has always been unreal. I can’t wait to get back to Mumbai and bring them this new show.”

His arrival at Kalina Airport on Tuesday marked a nostalgic moment for fans who grew up with his music soundtracking college romances and dance floor anthems alike.

Yet it was his comments about future collaborations that truly set off speculation. Asked about the possibility of working with Indian artists, Iglesias gave a carefully phrased tease: “I’m constantly receptive to new concepts, and who knows, something might already be underway.” The remark comes amid unconfirmed reports that he could be linked to King, Shah Rukh Khan’s next project, though neither camp has offered official confirmation.

Iglesias has previously collaborated with Indian talent — most notably singer Sunidhi Chauhan on the Heartbeat (India Mix) — a track that became a cross-cultural milestone long before global pop partnerships were algorithm-driven.

According to sources, the singer also plans to visit the Taj Mahal following his Mumbai performances, making time for the monument he missed during his last trip.

Whether or not the collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan on King materialises, Iglesias’s return marks a full-circle moment for Indian fans.
