The 52nd edition of the International Emmy Awards ended with the prominent presence of Indian talent. Actor-comedian Vir Das hosted the gala award night ceremony, held late Tuesday evening in New York, which also saw the Indian series The Night Manager headlined by Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Tillotama Shome nominated in the Best Drama category.

The Disney + Hotstar show, however, lost to France’s Les Gouttes de Dieu (Drops of God). Based on the manga series of the same name, the Apple TV+ show follows an heiress and a star student battling to inherit an estate and its vast wine collection.

Sandeep Modi's The Night Manager, a remake of the British series of the same name, was split into two parts and earned acclaim upon its India release last year, lauded for its performances and writing.

Vir Das, who had, just last year, bagged his maiden International Emmy for his Netflix special Landing, became the first Indian to host the Emmys, and he did so with his trademark humour.

The International Emmys featured nominations from 21 countries across 14 categories. Other major wins included Best Actor for Timothy Spall (The Sixth Commandment) and Best Actress for Aokbab-Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying (Hunger).

Argentinian series División Palermo won Best Comedy series while Germany's Liebes Kind (Dear Child) won the Best Miniseries category and United Kingdom's Otto Baxter: Not a F**ing Horror Story took home the Best Documentary award.
