On-screen pairings—just like love—is always full of surprises. After sharing screen space in the hit Fukrey franchise, real-life partners Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha are finally set to be paired opposite each other for the very first time. The duo has officially joined hands to lead an upcoming, untitled Delhi-set situational comedy.

Helmed by actor-writer-director Shashie Vermaa—whose on-screen acting credits include Bala, Gunjan Saxena, and Kathal, alongside writing and directing credits for AK47 and Murga Trophy—the film also stars Kumud Mishra. The project is backed by Scenework Productions and Giriraj Productions.

While Fazal and Chadha have previously shared screen space as part of the beloved Fukrey universe, audiences have never seen the two actors paired together in a narrative centered entirely around them.

Speaking about the project, Fazal noted that he has always believed the best comedies stem from honest characters and believable situations, adding that he knew "there was something special" the moment he read the script.

"It’s also exciting to finally explore a completely new dynamic with Richa on screen, and I’m really looking forward to what we’ll create together. Shashie sirs work is truly something i have followed and have wanted to work with him and that is also a huge reason for me to be part of this project," he added.

Chadha echoed the excitement, stating she was immediately drawn to the simplicity and authenticity of the writing. The actor praised the script for being "funny, emotional, deeply rooted in everyday life," and packaged with a sharp social commentary angle.

"Ali and I have shared the screen before, but never quite like this, and I’m genuinely excited for audiences to see us together in an entirely new space. The story reminded me of my first school days which was in Jamuna Paar in Delhi and I am excited to share screen with Ali, he's a gifted actor. We have never had the opportunity to work together in this capacity, previously we worked on Fukrey which was more of an adversarial role”.

The untitled film is scheduled to go on floors in the latter half of 2026.

“This is a story that celebrates people, relationships, the lens of the society and the chaos that a small moment can bring in someone’s life that can turn it all topsy turvy," said director Shashie Vermaa.

Producer Mukesh Giri of Giriraj Productions added that the team is eyeing a wide theatrical release in April 2027.
