Exclusive | Bobby Deol to Begin Filming 'Aashram' Season 4 in September

Baba Nirala is set to return. Actor Bobby Deol has revealed that his highly successful series Aashram is gearing up to go on floors in September this year for its anticipated fourth season.

The Prakash Jha-directed MX Player original has been a smash hit for the streaming platform, with every season delivering massive viewership numbers.

"I will be shooting for Aashram Season 4 in September. They begin filming then and I will join by month end. Everywhere I go, people ask me when the new season is coming out! So yes, it is happening," Bobby told THR India.

The actor recalled how the series—which served as a major breakthrough in the second phase of his career—initially gave him severe anxiety, as it required him to step into a flat-out dark role for the first time.

"The show was my first step towards being 'bad' on screen, and it was a dark, evil, horrible character. It was extremely tough. I had never done something like that—all those sequences where I am being bad with the women. I fell unwell a few days before the shoot because I was so stressed out! I thought, ‘how will I even do this?’"

Deol noted that there is often a thin line between an actor and their real self, making it crucial for an artist to cross that hurdle. "I am an actor, I am playing a part, and sometimes when you are doing something new, it is difficult to understand that," he added.

Looking beyond his own projects, the actor expressed strong admiration for the current wave of storytelling on streaming, highlighting TVF’s acclaimed Sapne Vs Everyone and Prime Video’s Raakh.

"I really like TVF, they make amazing shows. I recently saw their show Sapne Vs Everyone and it was amazing. I love OTT platforms; they changed my life. It makes me so happy to see some actors and filmmakers get this opportunity. I also saw Raakh and was blown away by the actors; it was such a well-made show. I am looking forward to doing more shows for OTT."
