Hindi film actor Saqib Ayub, known for his roles in Superboys of Malegaon and Farzi, will next be seen in Gopichand's Telugu film Singa. Saqib will play Rajan Vadayar in the action film directed by Vvenkat. The film will be produced by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy under the banner of 70mm Entertainments.
"I'm elated and grateful to play the main antagonist against the legend Gopichand gaaru. Can’t wait to explore new horizons in Tollywood that Singa will bring in my career," Saqib told The Hollywood Reporter India in an interaction.
While the actor made his Telugu film debut with Nani's HIT: The Third Case in 2025, this will be his first full-fledged starring role in the industry. "We all know Gopichand garu is an action hero, which is why he rightly has the title Macho Star. It will be a great learning experience doing action with the best in business. Vvenkat garu, the director, is also a prolific action choreographer. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to properly enter the industry," he added.
Vvenkat, who rose to fame for directing the action of films such as Rangasthalam (2018), Supreme (2016), Aravinda Sametha (2018), Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), Uppena (2021), Daaku Maharaj (2025) and Baaghi 4 (2025), will turn director with Singa.
Malayalam actress Anarkali Nazar will play the female lead in the film. The film's first look was recently launched on social media by the makers, revealing Gopichand's character, Singa, whose appearance is visually compared to that of a panther in the forest. The film will be lensed by Shamdat, composed by Sam CS and edited by Sreekar Prasad.
Gopichand, who is known for his roles in Telugu films such as Yagnam (2004), Jil (2015) and Pakka Commercial (2022), was last seen in Sreenu Vaitla's Viswam (2024).
