Billed as a heartwarming romance set in London, 'Abir Gulaal' will hit the big screens on May 9.
Pakistani star Fawad Khan is returning to Indian cinema with one question: Do you want him to flirt with you? Khan has co-starred with Vaani Kapoor in their upcoming rom-com Abir Gulaal, which will hit the big screens on May 9.
Billed as a "heartwarming romance" set in London, the film is directed by Aarti S Bagdi and produced by Vivek B Agrawal, Avantika Hari and Rakesh Sippy.

The teaser begins with Khan and Kapoor in a car as Kumar Sanu's romantic ballad 'Kuch Na Kaho' from 1942: A Love Story plays in the background. As Sanu's voice fades, Khan—also a singer in real life— takes over, crooning the track for Kapoor, who cheekily asks, "Are you flirting?"
Khan, who enjoys a loyal female fan following across the sub-continent, takes a moment before answering, looking intensely in her eyes: Do you want me to? Kapoor, completely charmed, gasps as the title card shows up set to an Arijit Singh track.
According to the makers, Abir Gulaal promises to be a "delightful" romantic comedy, weaving a love story "filled with unexpected turns, tender moments, and pure magic."
In 2016, an unofficial ban on Pakistani artists working in Indian films was put in motion following the Uri attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Khan's last Bollywood release was filmmaker Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which was released a month before the attack.

Though Khan has since been away from the Indian screens, after featuring in Khoobsurat (2014) and Kapoor & Sons (2016), the Bombay High Court had dismissed a petition in 2023 that sought to officially ban Pakistani artists from working in India.
