Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has unveiled the trailer for Sardaar Ji 3, the latest entry in the hit horror-comedy franchise. Directed by Amar Hundal, the film will release exclusively in overseas markets on 27th June. Notably, it marks the Indian film debut of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, who stars opposite Dosanjh in the ghost-hunting comedy.

Set in the United Kingdom, Sardaar Ji 3 follows Dosanjh’s character, a quirky ghost hunter, as he is summoned to a haunted castle after a team of armed soldiers fails to contain a violent spirit. The trailer opens with this failed mission and quickly transitions into Dosanjh’s comedic entry, called in to save the day. Aamir joins him as a fellow ghostbuster, adding both romantic and action-oriented sparks to the plot. Neeru Bajwa, a franchise regular, also appears as one of Dosanjh’s love interests, setting up a comedic love triangle.

Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Dosanjh wrote, “Sardaar Ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN”

The film also stars Manav Vij, Gulshan Grover, Jasmin Bajwa, and Sapna Pabbi. While the franchise's first two instalments were directed by Rohit Jugraj and released in 2015 and 2016 respectively, Sardaar Ji 3 is helmed by Hundal, promising a refreshed take on the series' trademark blend of slapstick, action and fantasy.

The trailer’s release has sparked considerable buzz online, particularly due to Aamir’s casting amid tense political relations between India and Pakistan following recent incidents along the border. While some social media users questioned the film's overseas-only release, others welcomed Aamir enthusiastically, calling her a "breath of fresh air" in Punjabi cinema.

Known for its absurdist humour and mass appeal, the Sardaar Ji franchise was a commercial breakthrough for Punjabi cinema. With a new location, a cross-border cast, and the promise of spooky laughs, the third instalment hopes to revive its box-office magic, albeit for global audiences only.
