In the sweet and sentimental trailer of Dhanush’s fourth film as director, we’re primed for a nostalgic ride back to one’s roots. The trailer cuts between the past and present as Dhanush’s character, Murugan, recalls the day his father brought home a rice grinder to his tiny idli restaurant. We then go on to see Murugan joining an upscale catering firm located in a city, which is being run by Sathyaraj and his son Arun Vijay. We hear Sathyaraj tell his son that their profits increased by 15 per cent after Murugan joined them. This statement is then intercut with a dialogue delivered by Raj Kiran, who plays Dhanush’s father in the film. This father emphasises the importance of the love that needs to go into cooking.

Arun Vijay takes on Dhanush once he returns to his hometown to restart his father’s idli shop. This track hints at the movie exploring two different father-son duos working in the same food business. This reminds one of the central conflict between Dhanush and another corporate figure in his film Velaiyilla Pattathari (2014).

We also see glimpses of Nithya Menen and Shalini Pandey in the trailer. It is being produced by Aakash Baskaran and Dhanush. The music is by G.V. Prakash Kumar, and it is being edited by G.K. Prasanna. The DOP is Kiran Koushik with action by Peter Hein.

Most recently, Tamil director Vetrimaaran said he would be returning to the world of Vada Chennai (which had starred Dhanush), but with an untitled project starring Silambarasan TR. Dhanush was last seen in Sekhar Kammula's Telugu-Tamil bilingual Kuberaa, co-starring Nagarjuna, Jim Sarbh, and Rashmika Mandanna. The actor played the role of a beggar whose fortunes change overnight in the action drama.

Nithya Menen, on the other hand, was last seen in Thalaivan Thalaivii, a family drama co-starring Vijay Sethupathi, coincidentally a film that also revolved around food.

The upcoming film will be out on October 1.
