We are not in Riverdale anymore. Maddock Films has debuted the exciting trailer for Ikkis, an inspiring tale of guts and glory starring The Archies lead Agastya Nanda as Indian war hero Arun Khetarpal. Directed by Sriram Raghavan and promising heaps of action and emotion, the film is scheduled to release in December, 2025.

Ikkis, co-written by Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, Pooja Ladha Surti, revisits the legend of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, a 21-year-old soldier who died fighting in the Battle of Basantar. The trailer depicts Khetarpal’s journey from military school to the battlefield. A dedicated young man, he’s driven by duty and patriotism, vowing to serve his nation at all costs. The trailer also introduces Simar Bhatia as his romantic interest, while veteran actor Dharmendra plays Khetarpal’s father (and the film’s narrator).

Arun Khetarpal fought bravely alongside his squadron against a Pakistani counter-offensive in the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 Indo-Pak War. He refused to abandon his tank and destroyed several enemy vehicles before being fatally wounded. He was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military honour. He was the youngest recipient of the award at the time of his death.

Ikkis marks a change of pace for Raghavan, best known for directing dark crime thrillers like Andhadhun and Badlapur. The film is backed by his longtime collaborator Dinesh Vijan.

Speaking about Khetrapal's exploits in battle, Raghavan had earlier told The Hindu, "He did something spectacular during the last two hours of his life. This is not a biopic in the usual sense of it. There’s another part to it, which is what happens to his father, 30 years later, when he goes to Pakistan. So it’s a drama of sorts.”

Ikkis also stars Jaideep Ahlawat as a Pakistani war veteran. Nanda, who debuted in Zoya Akhtar's The Archies (2023), is the grandson of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
