National Award-winning director Anand Ekarshi has announced his next, an English-language short film titled Isle of The Golden Swan. Ekarshi, who directed the acclaimed Malayalam drama Attam in 2023, is working with veteran actor Prakash Raj in his new film. The upcoming short will also feature Arjun Radhakrishnan, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya and Kavya Ramachandran.
Taking to Instagram, Ekarshi shared the poster for Isle of The Golden Swan. He wrote, “I'm delighted to share the first look poster of my next —its an English short film, "ISLE OF THE GOLDEN SWAN.""
Isle of The Golden Swan will feature cinematography by Anend C Chandran and music by Basil CJ. The film is edited by Mahesh Bhuvanend.
In his post, Ekarshi thanked his cast and crew for bringing the project to fruition. “To my sweetest producer, to the most amazing Prakash Raj sir, the other exceptional actors, the super talented technical artists and to every single soul who gave their unwavering commitment - this film is built upon your unbelievably selfless passion and hard work. Ekarshi’s debut feature, Attam, a powerful drama on the fracturing dynamics within a theatre group following a sexual harassment allegation, won the Grand Jury Award at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles in 2023. The film starred Zarin Shihab, Vinay Forrt, Kalabhavan Shajohn and others. At the 70th National Film Awards, it won three awards—Best Feature Film, Best Editing and Best Screenplay.
In 2024, in an interview with The Hindu, Ekarshi had said he is working on a love story for his next. “I am working on a love story. I am trying to explore the dimensions of love… It is just mid-way through. The writing is going on,” the filmmaker was quoted as saying.
