Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso John Mayer is set to make his long-awaited India debut early next year. The acclaimed artist will perform a one-night-only solo set on January 22, 2026, at the iconic Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai, marking a significant cultural milestone for the country’s live music scene.
Sharing his excitement about the upcoming concert, Mayer said, “India has long been on my list of places to play, not just for the vibrancy of its culture but for the way music lives in the everyday lives of people here. To finally perform in Mumbai feels both humbling and exhilarating.”
The event is being produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live, with tickets going on sale this October. A limited pre-sale for RuPay credit card holders opens at 12 PM IST on October 12, 2025, while general sales begin at 1 PM IST on October 14, 2025, exclusively on BookMyShow.
Known for chart-toppers like “Gravity,” “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” and “Bigger Than My Body”, Mayer rose to fame in the early 2000s with albums Room for Squares and Heavier Things. His 2006 album Continuum cemented his reputation as one of the most distinctive voices and guitar stylists of his generation, producing hits like “Waiting on the World to Change.” Over the years, his versatility has seen him move effortlessly across genres including pop, blues, country, Americana, and soft rock, with singles like “New Light” introducing him to new audiences.
Mayer’s collaborations span some of the biggest names in music, from blues icons B.B. King and Eric Clapton to contemporary stars like Alicia Keys, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift. He also spent years touring with Dead & Company, reinterpreting the music of psychedelic rock legends the Grateful Dead for new generations.
Naman Pugalia, Chief Business Officer of BookMyShow Live, called the upcoming show a landmark moment. “John Mayer’s debut performance in India represents a significant cultural milestone. To finally see him on stage in Mumbai transforms that private connection into a collective experience,” he said.
Mayer’s Mumbai debut also adds to a packed week of live music in January 2026, which includes Lollapalooza India and concerts by prog-metal pioneers Dream Theater.
