'Jolly LLB 3' Box-Office Collection: Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi Film Crosses ₹50 Crore in Three Days
Directed by Subhash Kapoor, 'Jolly LLB 3' showed strong growth on Saturday and Sunday, following a double-digit opening day.
Actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi-led comedy drama Jolly LLB 3 had a good weekend at the box-office as it crossed the ₹50 crore mark on Sunday. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the film showed strong growth on Saturday and Sunday, following a double-digit opening day.
Jolly LLB 3 featured Kumar and Warsi (who had starred in the first instalment) as lawyers, with Shukla returning to play the judge. The first instalment of Jolly LLB was released in 2013, followed by its sequel in 2017.
According to Sacnilk, Jolly LLB 3 netted ₹12.50 crore on Friday as it opened to a decent critical reception but a largely positive word of mouth on the ground. That helped the film get a huge boost on Saturday, when it recorded a massive 60 percent jump, netting ₹20 crore.
The film continued its momentum on Sunday and registered a slight bump in collections at ₹21 crore, taking its three-day total to ₹53.50 crore. The weekend figures have put the film in a safe position as it now looks at closing the week with collections around ₹80 crore.
According to Pinkvilla, Jolly LLB 3 is on track for a lifetime finish at around ₹125 crore, surpassing the previous best of the franchise, Jolly LLB 2, which stood at ₹108 crore.
The film will be another success for Kumar, after his best-performing film of the year, Kesari: Chapter 2. The Karan Johar-backed film had netted ₹154 crore at the domestic box office and was dubbed as a success. Kumar's other release of the year, Housefull 5, underperformed at the box-office.
Jolly LLB 3 will now face India's Oscar submission Homebound next Friday, followed by two big films on October 2: Dharma's Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari—directed by Shashank Khaitan and starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf—and Hombale Films' mighty Kantara Chapter 1 featuring Rishab Shetty.
