One of the biggest releases of the year is eyeing a perfect holiday weekend for its grand release: Jolly LLB 3. The Hollywood Reporter India has learnt that the upcoming biggie, headlined by Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, is revising its current release date of September and targeting a Gandhi Jayanti opening.

According to reliable sources, the makers are currently eyeing to release the film on October 2 as they feel the Subhash Kapoor directorial is perfect for a holiday release.

"As of now, Jolly LLB 3 is scheduled to release on September 19, but discussions are going on for a grand release on October 2. The team, including Akshay Kumar and Subhash Kapoor, is confident that they have made an entertaining, family film which is apt for a holiday release," a source shared. With October 2 falling on a Thursday, the film will enjoy a four-day extended weekend at the box office.

The film will feature a face-off between Kumar and Warsi (who had starred in the first instalment) as lawyers, with Saurabh Shukla returning to play the judge. The first instalment of Jolly LLB was released in 2013, followed by its sequel in 2017.

If Jolly LLB 3 locks the October 2 date, it could mean that the film will clash with Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1. Even though murmurs within the industry had been ongoing about a possible postponement of the film, the makers recently dropped a new poster and announced that the film is on track for October 2 release in Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu, Bengali, and English. Backed by Hombale Films, the movie is a prequel to the acclaimed Kannada film Kantara (2022).

Kumar started the year with the aerial actioner Sky Force and followed it up with Karan Johar-backed Kesari Chapter 2. He was last seen in the comedy Housefull 5, which was produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
