Kamal Haasan Explores AI Innovation at Perplexity HQ, Meets CEO Aravind Srinivas
With 'Thug Life' and his 237th film on the horizon, Kamal deepens his engagement with AI and emerging media technologies.
Veteran actor, filmmaker and visionary Kamal Haasan continues to embrace the future of cinema with his latest visit to the United States, where he explored the cutting edge innovations of artificial intelligence. On April 11, Haasan dropped by the headquarters of Perplexity AI in San Francisco, where he met with the company’s CEO Aravind Srinivas.
The actor took to Instagram to share a few moments from the visit, expressing admiration for Srinivas and his team’s forward-thinking approach. “From cinema to Silicon, the tools evolve—but our thirst for what’s next remains. Inspired by my visit to Perplexity HQ in San Francisco, where Indian ingenuity shines through @aravindsrinivas and his brilliant team building the future—one question at a time." he captioned the post. Adding, "Curiosity didn’t kill the cat—it created @aravindsrinivas and @perplexity.ai!"
Srinivas, in turn, also shared the photos on his social media, praising the actor’s unrelenting passion for learning and experimentation. “Your passion to still learn and incorporate the cutting edge technology in film making is inspirational!” he wrote, adding a note of encouragement for Kamal’s upcoming film Thug Life and other future ventures.
Though the specifics of their discussion remain undisclosed, the exchange strongly suggests a conversation around the integration of AI tools in cinematic storytelling — a realm Kamal has increasingly shown interest in.
The visit came shortly after Kamal attended the NAB Show 2025 in Las Vegas, one of the largest global gatherings for professionals in the media, entertainment and technology sectors. Hosted by the National Association of Broadcasters, this year’s event placed a spotlight on AI-driven workflows, virtual production tools, and emerging streaming solutions — topics well aligned with Kamal’s tech-forward vision for Indian cinema.
On the professional front, the star is set to return to screens with Thug Life, helmed by Mani Ratnam, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kamal. The film marks the duo’s first collaboration since the cult classic Nayakan (1987) and features a star-studded ensemble including Silambarasan, Trisha and Joju George. Meanwhile, Kamal’s 237th film is already in the pipeline, to be directed by celebrated stunt choreographer duo Anbariv.
Adding to his expanding list of roles, Kamal Haasan was recently appointed Chairman of FICCI’s Media and Entertainment Committee South, reinforcing his ongoing commitment to shaping the industry’s future.
