National Award-winning actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty and director Sandeep Singh are set to collaborate on the action drama The Pride Of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which will feature the Kantara star in the titular role. The makers announced the historical epic with the first look poster on Tuesday, which showcased Shetty as the Maratha warrior king.

The film will be the directorial debut of Singh, who has previously backed movies like Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Mary Kom, Sarbjit headlined by Aishwarya Rai-Randeep Hooda, and this year's Veer Savarkar.

Rishab Shetty took to X and posted the first look of the film, announcing that it would hit the big screens on January 21, 2027. "Our Honour & Privilege, Presenting the Epic Saga of India’s Greatest Warrior King – The Pride of Bharat: #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj. #ThePrideOfBharatChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj. This isn’t just a film – it’s a battle cry to honor a warrior who fought against all odds, challenged the might of the Mighty Mughal empire, and forged a legacy that can never be forgotten," he wrote.

Calling it a "magnum opus," the actor said in a statement that it was an honour to headline the film on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who is "A national hero whose impact transcends history, and I feel immense pride in bringing his story to the screen."

Sandeep Singh added that Shetty was his first and only choice for the role in the film, which has been his dream project for many years now. "The film has been envisioned with a scale, grandeur, and never-seen-before action choreography that will help take Indian cinema truly global," the director said.
