According to reports, fans of the film were upset over the removal of a few scenes from the film
Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas's 15-year-old film Khaleja got a grand re-release on Friday. While fans of the actor and the film were ecstatic in celebration, a section of them watching special screenings of the film on Thursday were left frustrated.
Several videos of fans displaying their frustration with the print made the rounds on X. The fans were reportedly unhappy with certain portions of the film being cut in the re-release print.
This led to theatre exhibitors clarifying the situation: “Dear #Maheshbabu fans, Please note that #Khaleja4K will be screened with the content we receive from our VPF providers. We have seen a few tweets that few scenes/ song have not been screened. So please be aware and do not let us down by creating unnecessary issues. Pls understand," the statement read. But the scenes were quickly added back perhaps in time for its Friday release.
Meanwhile, a fan was escorted out of a theatre when he brought a snake to recreate a sequence of his screen icon from the film.
Khaleja, which co-starred Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj, and Sunil, told the story of a prophesied man (played by Mahesh Babu), who is destined to save a village suffering from a mysterious disease. While the film was a box-office dud upon release, it went on to attain cult-like status over the years, becoming a fan favourite.
