The trailer of Lokesh Kanagaraj's acting debut in DC, is out.
The action-drama appears to be a blood-soaked tale of gore and romance between two lovers, Devadas and Chandra, played by Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi.
Speaking about the DC trailer launch at Cannes, director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared that the entire experience felt new to him — from acting to being at the prestigious film festival. “Everything feels new. I can’t say whether it’s good or bad, but it’s been a nice experience. Being on a different set before moving on to my next film gave me a chance to learn something new. I got to observe how Arun and the others worked, and it was a learning experience,” he said.
When asked if he would take up acting again, Lokesh had a straightforward response: “I don’t think so.”
DC stars Lokesh Kanagaraj, Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy in key roles. The film is written and directed by Arun Matheswaran and produced by Sun Pictures. Arun Ranjan has penned the additional screenplay, while dialogues are by Arun Matheswaran and Franklin Jacob. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh.
On the work front, Lokesh Kanagaraj last directed Rajinikanth in Coolie. While the film opened to mixed reviews, it went on to perform well at the box office. Arun Matheswaran, meanwhile, last helmed Captain Miller (2024), starring Dhanush.
Lokesh is also set to direct Telugu star Allu Arjun in his upcoming film #AA23, marking an exciting Tamil connection for the actor’s next venture.
Meanwhile, after months of speculation and delays, Lokesh also addressed the status of Kaithi 2, the sequel to his 2019 hit starring Karthi. The filmmaker was initially expected to begin work on the sequel immediately after Coolie. However, Lokesh clarified that Kaithi 2 had been pushed further down the line and revealed that work on the project would begin only after he completes AA23 with Allu Arjun.
