Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit has found herself at the centre of controversy after fans expressed outrage over the format of her ongoing USA-Canada tour. What was initially promoted as “a celebration of dance, music and memories” was reportedly rebranded as a “meet and greet”, following backlash from attendees at her Toronto event on November 2.

According to those present, the show held at Toronto’s Great Canadian Casino Resort started nearly three hours late, with fans waiting for what they believed would be a full-scale dance concert. Instead, the evening was ‘a talk session’, leaving audiences disappointed. Social media quickly filled with posts from frustrated attendees calling the event “misleading” and “a waste of money.”

One fan wrote on social media, “It’s unfortunate that you’re now calling it a meet and greet after Toronto spent money expecting a concert. Transparency is important.” Another added, “You owe Toronto an apology. Your original post said it was an evening of dance and music—not a Q&A.” Others complained that the show was “boring,” “chaotic,” and “disrespectful of the audience’s time.”

Following the uproar, Madhuri updated her Instagram caption to read “Thank you Toronto for a lovely Meet and Greet,” sparking further frustration among followers who felt the change came only after criticism surfaced. Some fans accused organisers of false advertising, while others directed blame at Madhuri herself for the lack of clarity.

Responding to the backlash, True Sound Live Ltd, the organisers of the Toronto show, issued a statement defending themselves. They said the show ended on time with performances by Indian Idol singers and claimed the delay occurred due to “miscommunication from Madhuri Dixit’s management team,” who allegedly gave her an incorrect call time.

Despite the controversy, the actor’s tour is continuing across the US, now officially marketed as a “meet and greet” instead of a dance concert. Ticket prices range from USD 150 for general admission to USD 500 for elite access.

Madhuri was last seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 alongside Vidya Balan and Kartik Aaryan, and will next star in Mrs. Deshpande, a psychological thriller directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, where she plays a serial killer.
