In addition to the returning cast, the sequel will feature Priya Bhavani Shankar, Sathyaraj, Arunraja Kamaraj, Danie and Muruganandam in pivotal roles. The makers have yet to reveal plot details, but the film is expected to build on the fantasy-adventure template that made the original a box-office success.

Released in 2017, Maragadha Naanayam revolved around two small-time smugglers who embark on a mission to retrieve a powerful emerald medallion for a ruthless gang leader. Their seemingly straightforward task spirals into chaos when they discover that the medallion is cursed, unleashing a series of supernatural events. Blending horror elements with situational comedy, the film struck a chord with audiences and gained popularity for its quirky tone and performances, as well as the hit song “Nee Kavithaigala.”
