Mohanlal’s 'Thudarum' Nears ₹40 Crore Mark in 5 Days, Maintains Box-Office Momentum
Following the success of 'L2: Empuraan,' Mohanlal’s 'Thudarum' is drawing strong audiences in India and overseas, with solid weekday performance and growing word-of-mouth.
Mohanlal’s box office streak continues with Thudarum, which has collected an estimated ₹38 crore in India within five days of its theatrical release. The Malayalam-language revenge thriller, directed by Tharun Moorthy, made ₹6.5 crore on Tuesday—surpassing its opening day figure of ₹5.25 crore—indicating a sustained audience interest and positive word-of-mouth.
With commercial appeal rooted in a tightly woven narrative and high production values, Thudarum is being compared by some critics to the Drishyam franchise for its genre strengths and emotional depth.
The film’s performance follows closely on the heels of L2: Empuraan, the Lucifer sequel directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, which became the highest-grossing Malayalam film.
Together, the two back-to-back hits mark a significant return to form for Mohanlal after a period of mixed theatrical outcomes.
Produced by Rejaputhra Visual Media, Thudarum has also found an audience internationally, particularly in North America, where it is seeing steady weekday collections. As per the latest box office update, the film has grossed approximately $883,500 USD ( ₹7.52 crore) across North America, highlighting its growing appeal among overseas audiences. If the current trend holds, Thudarum is likely to cross the ₹40 crore milestone within the week.
