The makers of Mookuthi Amman 2 - Maha Sakthi released the film's teaser on September 14, on the occasion of Vinayaga Chaturthi, and confirmed a worldwide theatrical release on November 6, 2026, placing the film in the Diwali festive window.

The teaser opens in a period setting where a man on a horse enters a cave to warn his queen of an approaching enemy army. The narrative then moves between a mythological past, involving a kingdom facing invasion, and the present day, where an unexplained calamity appears to affect the people of the town. The two timelines appear to be connected, with Nayanthara's character as Mahasakthi positioned as a divine force, appearing towards the end of the teaser. The teaser does not disclose plot details beyond the conflict, but establishes a larger-scale mythological register than the first film.

Though Mookuthi Amman 2 carries the title of RJ Balaji’s 2020 hit, the sequel shares no narrative continuity with the original film. Sundar C’s version is positioned as a standalone project, signalling a shift in creative approach while retaining the devotional-comedy framework suggested by the name.

The November 6 Diwali release positions Mookuthi Amman 2 alongside Ramayana: Part 1, the Nitesh Tiwari-directed mythological epic starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, which is also scheduled to release in the Diwali window.

Mookuthi Amman 2 will be released in theatres on November 6, 2026.
