Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi's next will be a web series directed by acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Manikandan. A poster for the series was recently circulated on social media. Titled Muthu Engira Kaatan, the show will reportedly be out on JioHotstar.

Manikandan, who rose to fame for his National Film Award-winning film Kaaka Muttai (2014), last directed the acclaimed Kadaisi Vivasaayi (2022), also featuring Vijay Sethupathi in a special role. If reports are true, this project would mark Manikandan's third collaboration with Sethupathi, after Aandavan Kattalai (2016) and the National Film Award-winning Kadaisi Vivasaayi (2022).

Sethupathi was last seen in Pandiraj's Thalaivan Thalaivii, alongside Nithya Menen. The actor, who was recently named by a woman alleging sexual exploitation, dismissed the allegation as “filthy” and “completely false.” In an interview with Deccan Chronicle on 30 July, the actor denied any wrongdoing and confirmed that he has filed a cybercrime complaint against the individual who made the claims on X (formerly Twitter).

The accusations were first made by a user identified as @Ramya_mohan, who alleged that Sethupathi had exploited a young woman in exchange for “caravan favours.” The tweets, which sparked a wave of speculation online, were deleted within hours of being posted. The account itself has since been deactivated.

“Anyone who knows me even remotely will laugh at this. I know myself too,” Sethupathi told Deccan Chronicle. “This kind of filthy accusation can’t upset me. My family and close friends are upset, but I tell them, ‘Let it slide. This woman is doing it to be noticed. She has her few minutes of fame, let her enjoy it.’”

Sethupathi described the incident as part of a “whispering campaign” that he says has followed him for the past seven years. “I’ve faced all kinds of whispering campaigns… Such targeting has not affected me so far. It never will,” he said, adding that he cannot allow smear campaigns to derail his work or personal peace.
