'Made in Korea' Trailer: Priyanka Mohan On A Trip to Seoul
Priyanka Mohan stars in this coming-of-age film alongside Park Hye Jin.
Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Made in Korea, its upcoming cross-cultural coming-of-age film starring Priyanka Mohan. Released on Wednesday, March 4, the preview offers a first glimpse into a story that bridges Tamil Nadu and Seoul, positioning the film as a reflective look at migration, identity and the gap between aspiration and reality.
Directed and written by Ra Karthik—known for Nitham Oru Vaanam (2022)—Made in Korea follows Shenba, played by Mohan, a young woman from a small town in Tamil Nadu who dreams of travelling to South Korea. After years of saving, she finally manages to make the trip to Seoul, hoping to experience the country she has long imagined from afar. But the trailer quickly suggests that the journey will be far from the fantasy she envisioned.
Shenba is a character caught between the excitement of a new journey, and its precarity. Arriving in Seoul alone, she finds herself navigating language barriers, unfamiliar streets and the isolation of being far from home. The trailer hints at moments of struggle, but also at the friendships that begin to shape her experience in the city. With the help of people she meets along the way—including characters played by South Korean actors Park Hye Jin and No Ho Jin—Shenba slowly begins to find belonging in a place that initially feels overwhelming.
At its core, the film appears to lean into themes of self-discovery and resilience, tracing how Shenba learns to navigate a world that is culturally and emotionally distant from the one she knows. The trailer positions the story less as a travel fantasy, and more as a grounded exploration of migration.
Speaking about the film, Mohan described the project as a personal milestone. “Made in Korea and Shenba’s journey is deeply personal to me. It’s about discovering strength in moments of uncertainty and learning to stand on your own. Portraying her evolution from vulnerability to independence was both challenging and deeply rewarding,” she said in a statement. The actor also noted that the film marks her first collaboration with Netflix, adding that she hopes Shenba’s story resonates with audiences across borders.
Produced by Rise East Entertainment, Made in Korea continues the growing trend of Indian projects exploring international cultural exchanges—particularly with South Korea, whose global pop culture influence has expanded dramatically in recent years.
The film is set to premiere on Netflix on March 12.
