A first-time collaboration between Parvathy Thiruvothu, Don Palathara, and Dileesh Pothan brings together three of the strongest voices in Malayalam cinema.
Parvathy Thiruvothu is all set to headline Don Palathara’s next directorial venture, alongside the acclaimed filmmaker and actor Dileesh Pothan. The collaboration brings together three of Malayalam cinema’s most distinctive voices, each known for their ability to find meaning in the ordinary.
This will be Parvathy’s first time working with Palathara and Pothan, a pairing that already feels special for Malayalam audiences. Palathara’s films, including Everything Is Cinema and Family, have always found beauty in restraint, exploring human relationships and the invisible politics that shape them. It’s a space that naturally complements Parvathy’s emotionally charged performances. While the story is still under wraps, the film is said to be an emotional drama that will be shot extensively across Kerala.
Talking about the project, Parvathy said, “Don Palathara’s movies hold up a mirror to how we live and love, often without judgment or noise. To step into that kind of world as an actor is liberating. His films invite you to reflect, not perform. That process is both terrifying and exhilarating. Working with him has been on my wishlist for a while, and sharing the screen with Dileesh, whose creative sensitivity I have admired for years, feels like going back to school as a student again.”
The announcement comes at an interesting time for Parvathy. She recently grabbed attention for leading Hrithik Roshan’s debut production Storm and for reuniting with Bejoy Nambiar 13 years after Maryan.
Don Palathara, known for films like Santhoshathinte Onnam Rahasyam, Everything Is Cinema, and Family, has emerged as a strong voice in Malayalam independent cinema, with his work featured at international festivals including Rotterdam and Moscow.
Dileesh Pothan, a National Award-winning filmmaker and actor, has directed acclaimed titles such as Maheshinte Prathikaaram, Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, and Joji, and continues to be regarded as one of the most influential creative forces in contemporary Malayalam cinema.
