Shah Rukh Khan's 'King' will also star Abhishek Bachchan as the main antagonist
Two years after the historic blockbuster Pathaan (2023), superstar Shah Rukh Khan and filmmaker Siddharth Anand are set to collaborate again on their next project, King. Anand will be directing and co-producing the mega action film, set to go on floors in March 2025.
King also stars Abhishek Bachchan as the main antagonist and will mark the big-screen debut of Suhana Khan, who was seen in Zoya Akhtar's Netflix film The Archies (2023).
The film is written by Sujoy Ghosh, who was earlier rumoured to direct King, along with Anand, Suresh Nair and Sagar Pandya. The dialogues have been penned by Abbas Tyrewala (Pathaan).
The team will begin the film in March 2025, with an extensive seven-month-long shooting schedule across Europe. According to sources, Anand was prepping for King for the last six months, including designing never-seen-before action blocks.
The makers are now in talks to lock an A-list female star to feature in King opposite Khan, the announcement of which will be made soon. It is speculated that Khan will be seen playing a gangster in the film, on the lines of the 1994 classic Leon: The Professional.
King will be Khan's first film since his historic comeback in 2023 with movies like Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. The makers are eying a 2026 release date for King.
Khan and Anand's first collaboration, Pathaan, became the first Hindi film to cross the ₹500 crore mark. The Yash Raj Films-backed project also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
