What's cooking? A new police procedural thriller. The acclaimed 2023 crime thriller Dahaad, created by filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, has been renewed for season two, THR India has learnt.

According to sources in the know, Prime Video has greenlit the second season, work on which is already underway. Set against the backdrop of a small Rajasthani village, the series followed Sonakshi Sinha and Gulshan Devaiah in the role of determined cops tasked with unraveling the mystery of 27 missing women, suspected to be the work of a serial killer. Spoiler alert: The culprit was Vijay Varma's character.

"Dahaad 2 is on, and the team is working on the script. Prime Video is aiming to mount the show on a big scale, as the first season did extremely well, garnering immense praise. The work is underway, and the team will figure out a shooting timeline soon," a source said. When THR India reached out to Prime Video, there was no response.

Dahaad opened to glowing reviews in 2023 and became the first ever Indian streaming series to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it competed for the Berlinale Series Award.

There is no confirmation as of yet if the original cast will return or if there will be new additions to the much-anticipated season two.

Both Kagti and Akhtar began the year on a winning note with the acclaimed drama Superboys of Malegaon, which was directed by the former. The film, headlined by Adarsh Gourav and based on the life of Nasir Shaikh and other amateur filmmakers in the small town of Malegaon, is also streaming on Prime Video.
