Induction into its senior lineages is uncommon, particularly for non-Japanese practitioners. Kalyan’s recognition signals not just technical proficiency but long-term immersion in the history and spiritual framework of the art.

His journey into martial disciplines began decades before his emergence as a screen star or political figure.

During his formative years in Chennai, Kalyan trained intensively in karate and allied combat forms, developing a foundation that later deepened into a sustained study of Japanese budo traditions. Over the years, his practice evolved beyond physical training into scholarly research, mentorship and philosophical engagement with samurai systems of thought.

This lifelong commitment has now been formally acknowledged through multiple international honours.  has become the first to put in place a court-backed order to remove reviews and ratings on online ticket booking platforms. The move has been made to counter reviewing bombing and online targeting of the film by organised bots. 

The movie releases today on January 12. Such reviews have now been curbed on online ticketing platforms such as BookMyShow. This will also help in reducing the application down rating the film based on organised negative campaigns. 

Several people from the industry have applauded the makers’ move to counter this. Among them, Vijay Deverakonda was among the first to react. He posted on X, “Happy and Sad to see this - Happy to know hardwork, dreams and money of many is protected in a way. And Sad because of the reality of our own people causing these problems. In a surprise announcement, director Amal Neerad launched the second part to his 2012 dark action comedy 

, with 'D’eux' meaning 'two' in French. 

According to reports, in the lead cast, Naslen and Soubin Shahir have so far been confirmed. From the first look, which features five guns pointing towards the film’s title at the centre, three more leads make the final cast of the film. The film is being produced by Amal Neerad Productions, Fahadh Faasil and Friends, and Anwar Rasheed Entertainments. 

The original cast of the 2012 film included Asif Ali, Rahman, Prithviraj, Indrajith, Kalabhavan Mani and Vinayakan. The film, despite releasing with a lot of hype, was considered a major disaster. But in an interview that released later, director Amal Neerad said that although the film released with negative reviews and responses, it’s the first film that made him a lot of money. He was also the co-producer of the film.

), I had not made much money. As a cinematographer in Bombay, I used to be highly paid. But turning director had made me poor. But I realised with

Subbaraj stressed the central role theatres play in sustaining independent cinema, particularly at a time when satellite and OTT platforms are reluctant to acquire low-budget films. “Theatres need to be more supportive for indie low budget films … Coz Big Satellite & OTT players are not so keen to buy indie films leaving Theatres as only source for revenue for Low budget films…. Not giving theatres for low budget films literally means Killing Cinema !!”

Addressing the impact of censorship timelines on large productions, he added that rigid certification schedules place immense pressure on filmmakers during post-production. 

“For Big budget films… The strict timeline rules for Censors (India & Overseas) is really hard to follow and puts lot of pressure on Filmmakers creative space during Post Production especially when ur doing a Big budget film with release date already announced… With current timeline rules for both Indian and overseas censors, the ideal time for a film to be fully completed is 3 months before release date… Which is Highly impossible for many reasons.…”

Calling for collective action, Subbaraj urged industry stakeholders and the censor board to work towards a more streamlined process. “This has to be streamlined and shud be made bit easy for Filmmakers… Both from the board the producers and the Stars… Otherwise postponement of Big films on festivals dates will eventually Kill Industry!!”
