'Ranabaali': Vijay Deverakonda’s Next Film With Rashmika Mandanna Announced
The period drama, set during British rule, is being directed by Rahul Sankrityan
On Republic Day, actor Vijay Deverakonda put out a launch video announcing his next release. Titled Ranabaali, the film is the story of a “Savage” who stood up against the British. This short video, released by the actor, shows the history of violence that was taking place in India in the 19th century, which is said to have killed “100 million people in 40 years", detailing the “45 Trillion Dollars Stolen From India”.
Introducing the film on X, Deverakonda wrote, “The British called him a “SAVAGE” I do not Disagree :) He was “OUR” Savage! Introducing THE one and Only “RANABAALI” And setting the record straight on our history which they tried to Bury. #RANABAALI." The video showed Indian farmers planting rice, only for the grain to be shipped out of India by ship to the world outside, causing a famine. The video ends with Vijay Deverakonda making an entry, as he drags the body of a British soldier on railway tracks, while riding away on a horse. The caption of the film reads, “The Legend Of The Cursed Land-1878”, signifying the period in which the film will be set.
Apart from Deverakonda, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna. Rahul Sankrityan is the director, and the film is being written by Pramod Tammineni. Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar are producers. It is being shot by Nirav Shah, edited by Karthik Srinivas R and the music of the period historical drama is Ajay Atul. The film will also be released in four other versions, including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. It is expected to get a grand release on September 11 of this year.
Vijay Deverakonda was last seen in Gowtam Tinnanuri's action drama Kingdom (2025), while Rashmika Mandanna was seen in Rahul Ravindran's relationship drama The Girlfriend (2025), both Telugu films that were released last year.
