Two years after Ranveer Singh was announced as the leading star of Don 3, the actor has now reportedly walked out of the Farhan Akhtar directorial. The decision came shortly before the film was gearing up to go on floors by February.

Singh was on track to begin the film, which would have seen him stepping into the shoes of the OG Don Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, who headlined the film's reboot version in 2006, helmed by Akhtar.

While the reason why Singh has stepped away from the film varies—a Mid-Day report claimed that the actor's commitment to an apparent additional shooting days of Dhurandhar 2 was one of the roadblocks, apart from "a hike in his remuneration" after the historic success of Dhurandhar.

"It did not align with Don 3’s budget. The parting of ways was amicable, albeit inevitable," the publication quoted a source. According to the report, there was a meeting between Singh, his management and Akhtar to discuss the way forward with Don 3.

Following this, Excel Entertainment's Ritesh Sidhwani informed all the department heads to halt the pre-production and communicated that the shooting schedule was officially pushed.

While Singh has exited Don 3, the actor is still committed to headline the post-apocalyptic zombie thriller Pralay, which would go on floors between July and August. The film will be helmed by director Jai Mehta, who had co-directed Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story with his filmmaker-father Hansal Mehta, and then made the show Lootere. The film will mark his feature debut.

Dhurandhar, meanwhile, is scripting history at the box-office as it put up another sensational number on its third Tuesday, netting ₹20 crore. According to the official figures, the spy actioner has minted ₹619 crore in India and is on track to comfortably cruise past the ₹700 crore mark domestically.
