Rukmini Vasanth Initiates Cybercrime Action Over Her AI-Generated Images

Kannada film actress Rukmini Vasanth recently took a stand against AI misuse on social media. The actress clarified that the latest images of her circulating on social media were AI-generated, adding that she had initiated all the necessary legal and cybercrime actions.

"My team and I have come across certain AI-generated images being circulated online claiming to be me. I want to state clearly that these images are entirely fake and fabricated. The creation and circulation of such manipulated content is deeply irresponsible and a serious violation of privacy. We are taking this matter seriously and initiating the necessary legal and cybercrime action against those involved in creating and spreading these images. Requesting everyone to refrain from sharing or engaging with such content," she wrote on X and Instagram.

At a recent event in Bengaluru, when she was asked if she filed a complaint, Vasanth answered in the affirmative, and spoke about the rampant misuse of AI to doctor images of women. “I have just filed the police complaint. So, I have full faith that our cybercrime department will look into it. Not just actresses, this happens to a lot of girls. I don’t think it’s something to be done. It starts with actresses, but girls will face problems too if this continues. So, people should think about it. There are positives to AI, but only if you use it positively, not negatively,” she said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Vasanth, who grew to fame from her roles in films such as Sapta Sagaradaache Ello- Side A and Side B, and Kantara: Chapter 1, will next be seen in Yash and Geetu Mohandas's Toxic. The actress will also be seen in Prashanth Neel and Jr NTR's Dragon. A teaser of Dragon, which was recently released, introduced Vasanth's casting in the film.
