Saif Ali Khan Attacked At His Residence During Attempted Robbery, Sustains Stab Wounds

Actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked in his Bandra residence during a suspected robbery attempt, where he sustained six stab wounds in the wee hours of Thursday. The 54-year-old actor was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently "out of danger".

Saif Ali Khan, his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their two kids live on the 12th floor of the Satguru Sharan apartment in Bandra West. According to reports, an intruder entered the house around 2.30 AM when the family was asleep.

Khan and the intruder had a scuffle as the actor attempted to stop the unidentified person, which is when he allegedly got injured with a sharp object.

According to Lilavati sources, Khan was brought to the hospital around 3.30 AM with six injuries, of which two were "deeper" cuts, and one was closer to his spine. He was operated upon by Neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi.

Khan's spokesperson said in a statement, "He has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident. We would like to thank Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr Leena Jain and the team at Lilavati hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time."

Meanwhile, Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital revealed that the actor had been shifted to the ICU, and would be shifted to the normal ward in a day or two.

In a statement, Dr Nitin Dange, Neurosurgeon Lilavati Hospital Mumbai said, “Mr Saif Ali Khan was admitted today morning around 3:00 am with an alleged history of assault from an unknown person at his residence. He sustained a major injury to the thoracic spine due to a lodged knife in his spine. Surgery was performed to remove the knife and also repair the leaking spinal fluid. There were two other deep wounds, on his left hand and right side of the neck which were repaired by the plastic surgery team led by Dr Leena Jain. He was also monitored by Dr Srinivas Kudva, the cardiologist. He is completely stable now recovering and out of danger."

According to the police, a maid at Khan's residence was also injured during the incident and the cops are now trying to ascertain if any valuables were stolen.
