Salman Khan Takes Dig At AR Murugadoss On 'Bigg Boss' Stage
The star director had criticised Salman’s schedules for the failure of 'Sikandar'.
On the stage of Bigg Boss Season 19, the host Salman Khan replied to a comment made by stand-up comic Ravi Gupta, who said that he had been a big fan of Khan's most recent release Sikandar. Sikandar had released to negative reviews and lower-than-expected numbers at the box office. Agreeing with Gupta and adding that the plot of Sikandar was in fact, very good, Khan went on to address the allegations that AR Murugadoss made about Sikandar's failure.
In Hindi, he said, “Sikandar Ka Plot Acha Tha Orr Iski Shooting Ke Time Meri Passliya Bhi Tooti Thi But Murugadoss Ka Kehna Hai Ke Main Set Par Late Aata Tha Tabi Flop Hogayi.” This translates to, “Sikandar’s plot was good, but my ribs were broken during the shoot. But Murugadoss kept saying that the film flopped because of how late I showed up on sets.”
The Superstar went on to take a dig at AR Murugadoss, who had gone on to make Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, right after. He said, “The star of his next film would show up on sets at 6 AM, but what happened? At first, Sajid Nadiadwala left the film, and then Murugadoss left to shoot his next film. That too was a big film, but as big as the film, the result of it too was….” He went on to stop short of calling it a bigger flop than Sikandar. He added, “God knows who Murugadoss was shooting with from 9 PM to 10:30 PM (on Sikandar).
Filmmaker AR Murugadoss had spoken up about how he did not understand the shooting timelines while working with superstar Salman Khan in Sikandar. The director, best known for helming the blockbuster Aamir Khan-starrer Ghajini, opened up about the strange challenge of filming with a star like Khan for his actioner, which bombed at the box office.
"It’s not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he turns up to sets only by 8 PM," Murugadoss said in an interview with Valaipechu Voice. "We are people who are used to shooting right from early mornings, but that’s not how things work there," he said while opening up about his experience of working on the sets of Sikandar.
Khan also broke his silence on Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap’s allegations during the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode, launching into a sharp rebuttal. Without naming Kashyap initially, Khan quipped, “There’s another Dabangg person who even dragged Aamir into this. Last week I said, ‘Just do your work.’ Today I ask again, ‘Got any work yet?’”
He went on to criticise Kashyap’s public comments, saying, “If you keep badmouthing everyone, no one will work with you. When we offered you a film, you refused.” Expressing disappointment, Khan added, “What pains me is that you’re destroying yourself. If you want to take on someone, focus on your family — love your parents, wife, children.”
Calling him “a talented man and good writer,” Khan urged Kashyap to “take a U-turn from this wrong lane.” Responding to the director’s claim that he would “fall to his knees,” Khan said, “I go down on my knees every morning — but to pray.”
