Sayani Gupta To Make US Feature Debut With 'Arya' As Lead Actor And Executive Producer

Best known for her roles in the acclaimed series Delhi Crime and Article 15, Sayani Gupta is now set to make her US feature film debut with Arya.

Written and directed by Neil Tuli, whose previous works include Ted (2012) and Birdie Cricket (2024), the film centers on Gupta's character Arya Sinha, a passionate and devoted piano teacher from a well-reputed Indian conservatory who is required to commit to an assignment in northern Minnesota to help rescue a struggling band program.

As Sinha navigates how to adjust to this new environment, she is forced to let go of control and redefine her vision of success. Arya also marks Tuli's feature directorial debut, according to a report in Deadline.

Gupta has also starred in three films which have premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The first was her film debut, Shonali Bose's Margarita With a Straw in 2015. The second was Parched (2015), and later, The Hungry which premiered at TIFF in 2017.

Beyond these accolades, the actor was also nominated for an International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) award for her role in the crime drama Article 15.

The film is produced under Tuli's banner American Haathi, along with Pallavi Sastry and Keertana Sastry from Adda G Productions.

Gupta, who was most recently seen in the Hindi sports drama Glory, is also the executive producer on this film. Arya is currently undergoing principal photography in Minnesota, USA.
