Shalini Ajith Kumar on Husband Ajith Kumar’s 33 Years in Cinema: ‘You’ve Changed Lives’

A day after Tamil actor Ajith Kumar posted an emotional note thanking fans, family and supporters for sticking by him through his 33-year acting career, his wife and co-star Shalini took to Instagram to write about the influence he’s had on people. She wrote, "You haven’t just built a career... you’ve carried people, changed lives, and done it all with grace. I’m so proud of you!! Happy 33 years !!"

The two starred in 1999’s hit Tamil film Amarkalam apart from Kannukkul Nilavu as well. The couple got married in April 2000.

Her post was in response to Ajith’s letter on Sunday in which he had said that this occasion wasn’t one to be celebrated more than one in which he needed to display his gratitude towards his supporters. He wrote, “I don't wait for landmark numbers as I believe that each passing year is a landmark year. I thank you all with a full heart and folded hands. This journey was never easy. I did not come from legacy or influence. I started from the outside, with nothing more than a will to try. Life, in its own way, tested me over and over through injuries, setbacks, failures, and silence. But I never stopped. I endured. I got back up. And I kept moving forward. Because perseverance is not something I learnt; it's something I lived. In cinema, I have fallen and risen more times than I can count. And every time.”

He had also thanked Shalini, his kids Advik and Anoushka, and his parents as well on the note, ending the note with the lines, “Thank you for the faith, the silence, the applause, the patience, and the love. I try to be true to myself and to you. As I pursue my motor racing career with grit and passion, I solicit the prayers and wishes from all , I hope I will make you and our nation proud.”
