Billed as a high-octane thriller, 'Haiwaan' is penned by 'Saiyaara' screenwriter Rohan Shankar.
Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar has come on board to star in filmmaker Priyadarshan's forthcoming feature Haiwaan, headlined by Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan. Billed as a high-octane thriller, the film went on floors in Kochi on Saturday, August 23.
A source close to the project confirmed that Pilgaonkar, last seen in Netflix's Mandala Murders, has joined the cast of the film and will soon begin filming. Haiwaan, penned by Saiyaara screenwriter Rohan Shankar, will be shot across Ooty and Mumbai.
In the video from the shoot, Khan and Kumar were seen sharing banter, with the former opening about how the duo is working together after a long time, despite being really good friends off-screen.
The film marks the much-awaited reunion of Kumar and Khan, who last starred in the 2008 YRF action-drama Tashan. Haiwaan also stars Boman Irani and is reportedly the Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam, which originally starred Mohanlal.
Haiwaan will be Pilgaonkar's return to cinemas after headlining acclaimed streaming titles like Prime Video's legal drama Guilty Minds, ZE5's The Broken News and Bhuvan Bam-led Taaza Khabar. In the Vaani Kapoor-led Mandala Murders, backed by YRF Entertainment and directed by Gopi Puthran and Manan Rawat, Pilgaonkar featured in an extended cameo.
Other details regarding Haiwaan remain under wraps, but Kumar is expected to play the antagonist. The film is backed by KVN Productions, which is also producing KGF star Yash's next, Toxic. Haiwaan will likely be Khan's big-screen return after his last theatrical appearance in Devara: Part 1 alongside Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor in 2024, which was a decent box-office hit.
Meanwhile, Haiwaan marks Kumar and Priyadarshan's third film collaboration in recent times. The duo, whose last project was Khatta Meetha in 2010, wrapped up the horror comedy Bhoot Bangla earlier this year and are also committed to shoot Hera Pheri 3 with Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal. No shooting timelines are in place yet for the comedy.
