The Diwali clash between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again has drawn massive crowds to theatres, with both films performing strongly at the box office. While neither film has won over critics, commercial success often transcends critical reception — and this festive weekend is proof of that.

According to Ormax reports, both films saw impressive opening weekend collections. Singham Again, with a reported budget of ₹375 crore, grossed ₹134 crore, while Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 — with a production budget of ₹150 crore — raked in ₹120 crore.

“The box-office collections of both Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again have been absolutely terrific,” film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi told The Hollywood Reporter India. “It's been one of the most prosperous Diwali weekends in some time — and the numbers for both films, despite the fact that they are both mass entertainers cannibalising each other's collections, have been incredible.”

Typically, releasing two similar mass-market films together leads to one suffering at the box office, as audiences often pick one over the other. However, the extended window for both films in the weeks ahead should allow for continued growth.

Monday’s performance, historically a barometer for a film’s future prospects, saw Singham Again earning ₹18 crore, reflecting a 49.65% drop from its Sunday haul of ₹35.75 crore. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which also grossed ₹18 crore, dipped 46.27% from Sunday’s ₹33.5 crore. These figures were reported by Sacnilk.

Despite concerns over the clash, the numbers have been stronger than expected. Rathi commented, “I wish this clash had been avoided or at least better coordinated so that business could have been optimised for both films from the start. But that said, the numbers have been fantastic, and we hope the momentum from the weekend continues into the week, keeping audiences coming to theatres in large numbers.”
