Sandeep Reddy Vanga has confirmed that his upcoming film Spirit, headlined by Prabhas, will receive an A certificate, making it clear that the film is not intended for a family audience.
At the trailer launch of Venu Gopal Reddy's Romanchakam, the filmmaker remarked that the film's violent outlook is what passes it as adult content.
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Vanga, who last directed Ranbir Kapoor's Animal (2023). The films also stars Triptii Dimri and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles, and is backed by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series.
During the trailer launch, Vanga also addressed the buzz around Spirit's release, which opens a month before SS Rajamouli's upcoming magnum opus Varanasi. While Spirit is set to release in theatres on March 5, 2027, Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran will release the following month, on April 7, 2027.
"It will be sufficient. There is around a 37-day gap. Also, that film (Varanasi) is bigger than Spirit," he said.
Earlier this month, news of Spirit clashing with Salman Khan and Nayanthara's highly-anticipated film, currently titled SVC63, for Eid 2027 release also made headlines.
While there were speculations around Spirit moving to a later date to leave the March 5 window open for Khan's next title, T-Series clarified that no such shift will take place, and that the film's release would continue as planned.
Prabhas is next set to star in Hanu Raghavapudi's Fauzi and Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD Part 2.
