'Subedaar' Trailer: Anil Kapoor in Action Hero Mode in Gritty Drama
'Subedaar' will be available to stream on Prime Video from March 5
Anil Kapoor is a former soldier taking on the sand mining mafia in the action-packed trailer for Suresh Triveni’s Subedaar. Set in a dusty riverside town, Subedaar stars Kapoor as Arjun Maurya, a retired military man struggling to adjust to civilian life, fighting against crime and corruption while navigating fractured family ties.
A series of humiliations in his own role as a mafia bodyguard pushes Maurya over the edge, returning Kapoor to action hero mode. Radhikka Madan, Saurabh Shukla, Faisal Malik and Mona Singh feature in the extended cast of Subedaar, with Aditya Rawal chewing up scenery as the film’s central antagonist.
Suresh Triveni, known for the feature films Tumhari Sulu and Jalsa as well as the recent series Daldal, has co-written Subedaar with Prajwal Chandrashekhar. It is produced by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor and Triveni under the banner of Opening Image Films, in association with Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network (AKFCN).
Kapoor revealed in a recent conversation that he was shooting an ad film with Trivedi and felt a certain 'energy'. “Main Suresh sahab ke saath ek ad kar raha tha aur kahin na kahin jab main kisi ke saath kaam karta hoon na, toh ek energy feel hoti hai, ek vibration milti hai. This filmmaker, I think, will do something too special. Not only with me, with anybody. And if I get the opportunity, to work with him, it'll be great for me."
That instinct resurfaced when Triveni and producer Vikram Malhotra approached Kapoor with Subedaar. His trust was so absolute that he did not listen to the script before assenting. "I said, 'I’m doing the film'.”
Subedaar will be available to stream on Prime Video from March 5 and has been certified A (to be viewed by adults only). Kapoor was last seen in War 2 (2025), playing the role of Colonel Vikrant Kaul. His upcoming projects include King and the Netflix series Family Business.
