‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ Trailer: Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor Bring A Big Fat Family Entertainer
Releasing on Dussehra, the Varun Dhawan–Janhvi Kapoor starrer is directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Dharma Productions.
Dharma Productions has unveiled the trailer for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, and it’s everything audiences have come to expect from a quintessential Shashank Khaitan film—romance, humour, vibrant music, and a hearty dose of family drama. Fronted by Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, the ensemble cast also features Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul. Set against the extravagant backdrop of a big fat Indian wedding, the trailer teases a festive entertainer that thrives on togetherness.
The film brings back the charm of the classic Bollywood family spectacle, designed to make audiences laugh, swoon, and perhaps even shed a happy tear. Khaitan, who has previously written and directed Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, appears in his comfort zone—crafting a world where love stories unfold amidst festive sparkle and larger-than-life emotions.
“Family entertainers are at the core of our storytelling DNA,” said producer Karan Johar in a statement. “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari celebrates togetherness, love, and laughter in the most festive way possible. The trailer is just a glimpse of the joy that awaits this Dussehra.”
Speaking about the film, Khaitan said, “I wanted to revisit the essence of movies that bring families together in theatres. It’s a story told with heart, music, and humour—and I hope audiences find themselves smiling and feeling nostalgic.” Adding to that, producer Apoorva Mehta said, “This film is truly special, right from its ensemble cast to Shashank’s magical direction. It will be a beautiful experience that will resonate with audiences across generations, and we are thrilled to bring it to theatres this festive season.”
Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Khaitan under Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, the film is positioned as one of 2025’s most-awaited festive releases.
Kapoor was last seen in the romantic drama Param Sundari opposite Sidharth Malhotra. She features in Homebound, which premiered at Cannes and is getting a theatrical release this month. Dhawan, who was last seen in Baby John, will next appear in the war drama Border 2.
