Suriya in 'Vishwanath & Sons'

On the morning of March 2, the first look of Suriya’s upcoming film with Venky Atluri was launched. The title of the new film is Vishwanath & Sons, and it features the star holding a baby against what appears to be the backdrop of a big, glass office building. The director had previously made the Dulquer Salmaan-starrer Lucky Bhaskar. It is being produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya. GV Prakash Kumar is scoring the music. He had previously worked with the director on his Tamil-Telugu bilingual Vaathi/Sir. The poster depicts both the actor and the baby smiling and looking towards their right. The film is being shot by Nimish Ravi, who had shot Lucky Bhaskar, apart from last year’s Malayalam blockbuster Lokah Chapter One: Chandra. The upcoming film will land in theatres in July.

The release date of his next film, Karuppu, is expected to be announced soon. It is being shot by GK Vishnu, who was the cinematographer behind films such as Jawan and Mersal. Karuppu is written by Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, T. S. Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures. Apart from Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, the film features actors Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu, Sshivada, Natty Subramaniam and Supreeth Reddy.

In his Pongal wishes for fans, actor-filmmaker RJ Balaji said that the festival season would not bring any special update about his upcoming film Karuppu starring Suriya. He joked about how every festival comes with a new updated poster of a star’s new film, but the poster does not always bring any new information with it. He said the release date announcement of Karuppu will come out with the launch of the film’s second single, although he did confirm when the second song would be out.

Suriya was last seen in Karthik Subbaraj's Retro last year. He will next also be seen in Romancham director Jithu Madhavan's upcoming film, tentatively titled 'Suriya 47'.
