Tamil actor Suriya’s film with Malayalam actress Mamitha Baiju has been officially launched. The bilingual Telugu-Tamil production, directed by Venky Atluri, will go on floors by the end of this month. The makers of the film announced the news with pictures from a ceremony this week.
Naga Vamsi, the producer of the film, wrote a note on X about collaborating with Suriya. “I still remember watching Suriya garu travel all the way to the US in the same outfit when he first met Meghna in Surya S/o Krishnan. From dreaming of doing something like that one day… to now making a film with him today.. it truly feels magical. It’s an absolute honour, sir,” his post read.
The film’s cast also includes Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon. The film is produced by Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas, and is headed for a 2026 Summer release.
Suriya was last seen in Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro, an action drama alongside Pooja Hegde, Joju George, and Jayaram. Baiju, who rose to fame for her performance in Premalu (2024), is looking at several interesting projects in Tamil cinema: Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude and Vijay’s Jana Nayagan.
Atluri last directed Lucky Baskhar, a drama centred on a middle-class cashier, played by Dulquer Salmaan. The acclaimed film co-starred Tinu Anand, Meenashki Chaudhary, Ramki, and Sachin Khedekar. His other films include Dhanush’s Sir/Vaathi (2023), Akhil Akkineni’s Mr Majnu (2019), and Varun Tej’s Tholi Prema (2018).
