Tamil Filmmaker Vikram Sugumaran Passes Away
The director is known for helming films such as ‘Raavana Kottam’ and ‘Madha Yaanai Koottam’
Tamil film director Vikram Sugumaran died of a cardiac arrest on Sunday. Reports suggest that the filmmaker was returning from Madurai to Chennai when he suffered the attack.
Actor Shanthnu, who has worked with the director in Raavana Kottam (2023), condoled the filmmaker’s sudden passing on X. “#Rip dearest brother @VikramSugumara3

Gone too soon. You will be missed,” he wrote.
Sugumaran, who made his directorial debut with the 2013 Tamil film Madha Yaanai Koottam, began his career in the industry as an assistant director to veteran Tamil filmmaker Balu Mahendra. The 47-year-old director has also acted in Tamil films, including M Muthaiah’s Kodiveeran (2017) and Vetri Maaran’s debut Polladhavan (2007). The filmmaker also co-wrote the dialogue of Vetri Maaran’s Dhanush-starrer Aadukalam (2011).
According to reports, the writer-director was returning via bus after narrating a script to a producer when he experienced severe chest pain. He is said to have been rushed to the closest hospital, but succumbed to the attack.
