The Reason Why Arya's Cameo Was Removed From Suriya’s 'Karuppu'

Actor and star Arya, during a promotional event of a Malayalam film in Kerala, confirmed that he had indeed shot for a small cameo role in Suriya’s summer blockbuster Karuppu. The role was said to be of an ‘experimental nature’ and the decision to remove it from the final edit of the film was taken a little while before the film’s release. 

Answering a question posed to him by the media, Arya said, “I was informed by the director RJ Balaji that my cameo was being removed from the film. I had shot for it and he told me that the cameo was not sitting well with the rest of the film and he reassured me that we will work again later. My role was a bit experimental in nature and Balaji said that it was not fitting into the full scope of the film.”

To this, he added that he had no issues with the role being cut, affirming that he was fine as long as it made the final film better. 

In other news, Dream Warrior, the producers of Karuppu, posted a long thank you note for the film’s blockbuster success. The Suriya vehicle has become the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year, having amassed over ₹300 crore thus far. The note thanks all parties involved and says, “Cinema is a dream built through passion, perseverance, and belief. Karuppu was shot by GK Vishnu, who was the cinematographer behind films such as Jawan and Mersal. The film is written by Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, T. S. Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar and produced by Dream Warrior Pictures.

Apart from Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, the film also features actors Swasika, Indrans, Yogi Babu, Sshivada, Natty Subramaniam and Supreeth Reddy.
