Re-elected as President of the Producers Guild of India (Guild) for a third consecutive term at the 69th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Shibasish Sarkar — a prolific producer of films, TV shows and OTT series, who is also the Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment — is once again poised to lead the organisation. The re-election was held in Mumbai on September 27, 2024.

The GUILD is India’s leading organisation in the realm of film, television and digital content, representing top producers of audio-visual content in the country. The body plays a key role in the development of the entertainment production sector, and it works closely with stakeholders and the Government of India to address regulatory challenges, policy matters, copyright protection, taxation, and ease of filming, among other things.

Sarkar, however, is not the only member of his team who has retained their position. Joining him are Manish Goswami, Madhu Bhojwani, Aashish Singh, Dipti Kotak and Ankur Garg as Vice Presidents, along with Ashim Samanta and Fazila Allana as treasurers.

During the meeting, Sarkar shed light on the evolving landscape of the media and entertainment industry, reflecting on challenges and opportunities for content producers in the Indian digital space. It was a collaborative discussion that saw members review the Guild’s key activities and put forth their perspectives on issues that they should prioritise in the coming year.

“I am honoured and humbled by the confidence my peers have reposed in me by re-electing me as President of the Guild for the third year,” said Sarkar. “I look forward to our members’ continued counsel and support, which lies at the heart of all that the GUILD strives to achieve,” underlining the organisation’s goal to buttress the growth of the film industry in India.
